Classes

Well, classes started on Wednesday the 11th.

I found out my schedule the night before and it kind of sucks. Okay, so its not SO bad. It just involves a lot of walking.

Heres the breakdown:

Monday/Wednesday

Nociones gramatica espanola-----------  11:30 -  1:00

Tuesday/Thursday

Literatura Espanola Siglo XIX-XX-------  8:30   -  10:00

Cultura Islamica en Espana--------------  11:30 -  1:00

Producion oral y escrita--------------------  1:00   -  2:30

Sistema politico en espana y en la UE-  5:00  -  6:30

Heres a picture of the schedule...which I suppose would have been easier >.<

On mondays and wednesdays my grammar class is fine. The teacher is nice, but I'm afraid no one is going to take the class seriously. I'm a serious student. I like to enjoy myself when I can, but I'm here to learn spanish, and I don't really want to be in a room full of people who are only here to waste money and get drunk, or people who think they know more than anyone else and act like they are above the class. After all, we all placed at the level we are in.

On Tuesdays Thursdays however, getting up for an 8:30 literature class is not so fun. The islamic culture class is going to be very cool. The teacher is on the heavier side, but he's very interesting to listen to and he likes to make weird noises (to be funny) and draw when he talks. My kind of guy. The POE class is going to be horrible. The teacher does not want to teach the class and she's pretty bitchy. Bad news. She also looks like she's on heroin. Yikes. Maybe I'll try and switch out of it....    Lastly, my Poly Sci class is going to be very cool. The teacher is a teacher at the University who teaches at the CLM branch as well. When he talks, he makes a lot of jokes and sniffs every so often in that sort of, "I'm a hot teacher and every one is looking at me so I'm so important" kind of way. Its pretty funny, but he's a nice guy.

There aren't classes here on fridays. I don't even think the younger schools have classes fridays because I went to the school today around noon and everyone was walking about. And everyone also goes out Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. If you aren't careful, you can end up spending a lot of money... I'll talk about the nightlife later though ;)

Tomorrow, the group from Uconn is meeting up with Lourdes to go on a trip around the city...If I'm not mistaken we are going to be visiting a cathedral that is being restored here. Should be fun!

Okay! Wish me luck in the classes! Hopefully they go well.

Hasta Luego- Paul
